Went to Mendo briefly this am.  Bait was a zero at the south launch, a local in a PB had mountains of shad from the north launch, so he loaded us up...thanks Brian!  When we got across the lake there were about 10 boats and a jetski in the zone.  As soon as the fish would come up it was like a game of smear-the-queer out there.  Boats on boats and hardware flying everywhere.  Fearing for our lives, but amused.  We sat back and watched everybody catch nothing  :smt009

We went off for less crowded quarters and a for a more zen approach to getting skunked.  Off early at 0930.  Local rumors of big hawgs in the channel will have us fishing there next.

Yeah my cousins friends fish the channel and behind it on the road you take just before the launch road if your coming from Clearlake on hwy20.   Is it legal for the yak to go up the narrows there?

If you fish the highway side (not the channel side) you can pick up some nice LMB.  I have done real well with poppers, spinner baits, and gitzits.  There is a culvert that runs down from the highway, that has rocks around it that go into the water, thats a good spot.  If you paddle up under the highway bridge, and if your facing up stream, look to the right.  There is some submerged brush.  Try spinner baits (white).
