A couple of years ago, a friend of mine and I were diving SWS and she said she had an idea, and a desire to use spearfishing to benefit others.  She had been on a dive trip somewhere and while she was fishing all day catching fish that are sold all over the world for outragious prices it occured to her that back on shore there were local people that hadn't eaten.

Her idea was to get people that go to these places to spearfish to donate their fish and some of their time to the local communities.  In 2010 Diving For A Cause was born.  My friend started subsidizing divers trips out of her own pocket.  The divers get a great trip at a great price and in return they donate their fish and their time to the local communities.

In 2011 I went on a DFAC trip to La Paz.  It was a 6 day trip, 3 days of fishing, one day of community service, and 2 days of travel.  Here's an article from Hawaii Skin Divers about that trip.

So cool.

I really wanted to go on that Nicaragua DFAC trip you went on but was unable to swing it cuz of family commitments.

Still would love to go on one in the future!

Thanks for doing these trips Josh, and thanks for sharing!

I just tried to do a post about the Puerta Vallarta but it disappeared?  Was it too long or is there a limit on number of pictures?

I think there's a limit of 10 pics per post...usually when I write up a report I'll copy the text before I try and post just in case I get timed out or something.

Really glad you enoyed Nicaragua. Beautiful country and great people.
