Launched from Lover's Point just after 5 am today looking for flatties.  I saw a whole bunch of bait in the water near the beach at lovers ..  but I didn't have my sabiki with me.  Not sure what they were.  I paddled out to Otter Cove and did 2 drifts and then 1 long drift/troll all the way back to the launch using a 3 way rig w/squid and a 7inch FishTrap on a 4oz head as the weight.  No Halibut whatsoever.  A few rockfish and a nice size ling caught and released.   I thought maybe the ling was a halibut until I saw him . . but it was still cool to catch a nice size fish.  Was off the water by 7:45.

I have no idea how deep the water was . .I guesstimate 40-60 feet.  Next week I'll know for sure because my new FF came in the mail yesterday!

I know there are halibut around. . .one of my shorefishing buddies got a 12 pounder from Carmel SB last week.  Good luck this weekend.
Fishing is cool
