Tube and worm fishing is predominately an east coast (cape cod) technique for slow trolling stripers that are staged close to the bottom. It's a popular method for kayak anglers to find fish while moving from spot to spot. Weighted lines are used to help baits achieve maximum depth.

Has anyone tried this on the west coast?

Watched a few other video's, and it does look like a fun and effective rig.  What would you use around here, blood worms?

Stripers on the east coast scarf down a lot of American eels, of all sizes. (It's not unusual to use a 24" eel to catch a 36" striper.) I think the tube and worm matches the eel hatch. Even if there aren't all that many lampreys and eels out here, I would guess that the stripers are genetically programmed to try and eat eel shaped objects.

Blood worms catch a variety of fish.I use it more of a soaking bait than trolling.I've never trolled for stripers with bait before.but when i use blood worms I usually buy the jumbo.its as long as a chop stick but at 20$ a dozen it's expensive.as far as the tube baits I've never seen or heard of anyone trying it before.out here, closest thing to it that I've thrown is the kast master with the tube tail hook trailer.never caught any stripers but rockies lovem
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

We've had reports from successful kayak anglers using bits of "fish bites" as a sand worm replacement.

The action of the tube certainly draws fish in, but the consensus is the bait is what drives them to the hook.

I'm in agreement that stripers are probably programmed to inhale anything that fits that style of profile.

Almost every bait shop around where i live sells Pile worms. Which are pretty much sand worms. I think they would work. Also ive seen people on the internet who use berkely gulp alive sandworms and it works. I just dont kno if it will work on west coast.
