No pics so it didn't happen........but.
Went camping at Ice House this weekend. No kayak, just a family trip, but I did bring my riverboard, mask, snorkel and fins.
After waking up Sunday morning I ate breakfast and was himmin' and hawin' about hittin' the water. Too cold, too tired, too sore..........too much of a pussie!  :smt011
So I headed down to the beach where I saw a dude in a Hobie PA. I figured it was Skipro and I was right. I called to him and he came over. We talked a bit while I got my stuff together then I headed out.
A bit chilly no doubt but soon acclimated.
First dive down I scored a golf ball.
Next dive was a kastmaster and a shitload of mono. I gave the k-master to Skipro and he gladly took the ball of mono off my hands.
Ended up with 2 beer cans, 4 golf balls, a tennis ball, and a set of flashers with a needle fish.
All in all the bottom was clean. I was glad to not see a bunch of discarded cans and bottles but I did bring a goody bag to pick up what I found.
Plenty of crawdads in the cut down log hollows.
It was GREAT to have such spectacular viz.
Diving at altitude is certainly a different animal too.
It felt great not to have to dive but with just a bathing suit, although a 2mm suit would have definitely extended my time in the water.
If you get a chance to hit one of the upper elevation lakes do it soon as the water is as warm as it will get and it's fun as hell.
Never once thought about a great white...well maybe once, but then I remembered where I was.  :smt044

:smt007  Love it up there!  Doing the Rubicon those many times, so many years ago it seams,I had many opportunities to see the lake, and actually fished it once from the bank.

I am so much more spooked of diving in lakes than I am in oceans...most of the time.  For some reason when I'm in lakes, all I can think of are the unknowns lurking in the darkness below my fins.  The bloated and white dead bodies hidden in the sunken logs and branches waiting for me to swim up to their tormented dead faces.  Or even that hungry croc or gator that someone released in the lake and has now grown to 18' long...etc.

Great to see you and the little woman there Tote.  Fishing wasn't all that hot as you saw;  one smallish trout, a half dozen 'dads, then two hits while we were paddling around.
Today was even worse!!  I got another trout, small, around 7am, then a couple more hits but nada.  Around 10 am the planter truck showed up.  I'm sooo bad at fishing, I couldn't even get one of those!!  Ha!

Soon as the water surface temps drop 5 degrees or so, the fishing should turn around, but for now, those fish are not in the mood.

Thanks for the tour of your camping rig.  Did you see the classifieds for the battery and the generator?

And here I thought tennis balls float.

Not if they're split down the sides.
All in all the lake, from where I was diving, was pretty clean.
