One of my kids wants to be a cherry with her two friends.  I have been looking for a pre made plastic skeleton sphere to wrap fabric or paper mache around, but not having luck.  Anyone know of a pre-made sphere I can cut holes for the head as well as legs?

thanks,
Nate

Not sure about pre-mades but have you thought about a blow-up ball as a form and making it out of paper mache? Also several companies make costumes for pumpkins etc. that might be redecorated into a cherry. Good luck and I hope this helps a little.

Maybe one of those big plastic buoys like the ones the comm guys use on crab pots or as harpoon floats?

I was thinking of wrapping chicken wire around an excercise ball but all those snipped wires can be sharp.

Wil: Those pumpkin suits could work.  thanks  I was thinking of getting the red angry bird costume and converting it to a cherry.

Piscean: Those are round, but those bouys have to be crazy heavy.

I think a exercise ball as a form for paper mache.

is she set on it being round or could a head on view work? If so, maybe two snow saucers (like a clam shell)?

I just had a thought.  Giant paper lanterns.  I'll update with what I find.

As always, thanks for the suggestions,
Nate

EWB, you loaned us a fish for fish printing at GS.  My daughter liked it so much that she wanted to do fish printing for her birthday.  So as a craft, we printed fish and octopus and her friends loved it...though they used the octopus as finger puppets and chased each other around.

Awesome!!!!! So glad she liked it. Yeah my kids school is dying for me to do a fish print "class" I may go get some talipa do it. Really that's about all I think they are good for. Did you actually do the octopus? I was gonna try some squid but I wasn't sure how they would work out.

Ya, the octopus turned out great for some of the kids.  They had the right amount of ink and the details of each sucker came out nicely.  I wanted to get some nice kelp leaves as well, but didn't have time.  If you're doing for a school, a range of fauna and flora would be nice...for those vegetarians.  Kelp is very easy to get right and the details look awesome.

The chicken wire idea sounds good to me too. Remember to tuck in all the ends of wire or use a plastic coated version.
