I don't want to go over the Bay Bridge on Sunday because of Fleet Week, but I want to go fresh water fishing for black bass.   Any good places in San Mateo or San Jose that about 1 to 1 1/2 hour from Pacifica?

I was thinking about Rivers End Marina in Tracy, but that's over the San Mateo Bridge.

Thanks,

Mienboy

Chesbro reservoir, uvas reservoir, lake Anderson, coyote lake all in San Jose or lexington reservoir
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Unfortunatly, all but Lexington are closed to boating on this list:
Chesbro reservoir, uvas reservoir, lake Anderson, coyote lake all in San Jose or lexington reservoir
Chesbro and Uvas aren't open to boating at all, and the Coyote and Anderson are closed as of yesterday (see below).  Calero, SCR and Lex are still good for bass, but your going to have to go through a lengthy inspection process.  Actually, SCR would be a pretty direct shot for you coming from Pacifica, just take Skyline Blvd to Highway 9 towards Saratoga.  There is a cutoff from 9 that takes you directly to the lake.

Due to low water levels at Coyote and Anderson, both reservoirs will be closing to recreational boating on October 6, 2012.  The last day of boating at those two reservoirs  is Friday, October 5, 2012.

Calero, Stevens Creek and Lexington reservoirs will remain open.

Normally, in off-season (which commences Oct. 15 each year), we revert to a 5-day-a-week boating schedule at Calero and Anderson.  We  close Coyote, Stevens Creek and Lexington for the season.

Since Anderson will be closed, the Parks Department will keep Calero open 7-days-a week during off-season.   The Department  will also keep Lexington and Stevens Creek  reservoirs open on weekends and holidays to offer additional boating access.

It is unknown at this time, if Anderson will re-open before the beginning of next season which starts April 15, 2013.
If the water level changes significantly, the Department will re-evaluate the closure of Anderson.

Thanks for the info.   I have too much condensation on the kayak to pass an inspection.  I'll have to go to Rivers End.

I know this is late but I'm going to give up a good spot if you go back for this time of the year after you launch get away from all the homes and floating docks and go north on Old river paddle all the way to the corner where Clifton court forebay is stay on the west side of the river drift south from the boat dock by where they release the water from the forebay use you favorite striper bait fish the open area by the roped off area south to about 1/2 mile pay attention to the bamboo the striper stay under the bamboo. Now is you want to target bass start at the same spot go to the east side of the river and there is a shallow flat area where you will find bass and stripers. Bass in the shallow and stripers just were is breaks off to deeper water. Sometimes we have caught a lot of fish there. Its a great spot in the fall. I just think I talked my self into a trip know.
