So I rigged up a lowrance X4 Pro with Scupper Mount to my Tarpon 130. So far it has been pretty solid with depth and structure readings but after a few trips on the river I have not seen any fish arches. I tweaked my transducer to be sure it is level of both axis but still no joy. Do you think something is out of wack or are my expectations too high.

I am in the napa river so it's not the clearest water in CA. If I set it to fish ID it make so many fish you could scoop them with a net but I figure those are false readings due to debris and excessive feedback with the water being fairly muddy.

What is everyone's experience with this. Any ideas would be appreciated.

On a side note. While I think the scupper mount is great for temp and confidence of your readings I can see I will be paranoid about it being bumped, scraped and knocked out of alignment on a regular basis. While the water mount seemed like a pain in hindsight it may offer more peace of mind. Just my 2 cents. Unless f course you have one of the brand new kayaks with the depression to protect the transducer then just co sider yourself lucky!

Best,
Phil

did try adjusting your sensativity level? and go to an area where you know that hold fish.or think that area hold fish.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Sounds like your transducer is set to sensitive like dune12 said. I can see my swim bait with mine.

Thanks guys I had it on the auto setting. I will change it to manual and fiddle with it a bit to see if I can make some progress.

Best,
Phil

I have a lowrance x67c. I can't see my jig is this unit to where I should be able to see my bait. It looks like I can only see structure. When the bottom is flat. The screen bottom has a red line in the middle of the brown bottom?

Looks like I have some tuning to do. I would love to be able to see my Jig so I know I am getting depth right.

Seaweed. I am new to all of this but that is a decent unit. I would think you should be able to see a lot more than just structure when the bottom is flat. Is your transponder hull mounted or scupper mounted. Maybe it would help to mess with the sensitivity settings like others have recommended. I get great structure and bottom readings I just have not been able to pickup fish arches and seem to get a lot of excessive feedback.

Best,
Phil

I've had that same model (x40 pro) and thr one prior. I really liked it. You can zoom in on the bottom, cool feature just press + button. It's pretty much nuke proof. I let a friend use it and on him way back in, beach landing and he ate it. The ff fell out of the bucket he had it in and got slammed in 6-8' short break for about 15 min. I thought it was toast for sure. Got it back, washed off the sand plugged it in and good as new. I gave it to him when I got an Elite 4 which has the best res I've ever seen in a compact gps ff.
