Broke a Baidarka purchased at OPS in 2010 while fishing at TC last week. :smt012  I didn't know why it broke but it broke by the 5th eyelet. I called Okuma warranty center and told them what happened and if they could do something about it.  The guy I talked to gave me a return number to put on the outside of the shipping box plus mail them $19.95 and ship the broken pole to them.  I mailed it on the 15th, they received it on the 17th, and today   the 21st I recieved the replacement pole! :smt003  A total of 7 days!  That's what I call customer service! :smt007

Awesome bro. I just ordered an okuma cedros coastal from amazon, they shipped it in a flimsy box instead of a tube. Well, needless to say the tip top guide came with a bent frame. Called amazon and they told me 4 weeks for a replacement. Eff that. Called okuma to see what they could do. Explained the situation to greg in the warranty dept he said hed send a new tip free of charge and it would not void my warranty. Got the new tip in a couple days. They have an awesome warranty dept. Ill buy from them again. And the new rod is super light with very good backbone. Snap casting 4 oz lead heads and no problems at all. Paired with a daiwa luna 300 and it is well balanced.

There's a thread somewhere about how they replaced my 7' rockfish pole twice when they broke for no reason - Baidarka - and how other people have had the same problem with that rod.  The third one hauled up a big sting ray the other day, so I think it might be o.k. .  I think I paid $14.95 for shipping for each replacement, but that was a couple of years ago.

They shipped mine in a heavy duty tube.  I thought I had 5 poles in the tube it being so heavy and sturdy :smt003

The Baidarka has a defect in the blank and eventually the new one they sent you will also break since they discontinued the model instead of correcting the blank defect. Etienne went through 3 of them, always breaking at the same place. The 4th one I reinforced the whole tip section with a double wrap and epoxy before he used it. It's been a year and so far no breaks.

The one i got came from amazon allan so it isnt okuma who sent it. I dont think ill order rods from amazon anymore because of that experience. Luckily okuma has great customer service.
