Fished the Deep Hole where the squid fleet is working. WSB have been chewing and 17 halibut to 50# were landed 2 days earlier.  We got fresh dead squirts from the light boat but with half a dozen private boaters and as many kayaks on the spot, no love for those fish either day.

On Saturday, I hooked what felt like a mackerel.  I landed a weird looking fish about 4 pounds and one of the boats called it a horse mackerel.  Never heard of it or saw one in nearly 50 years fishing Malibu.  My cousin paddled out and told us it was "aji" a sashimi delicacy.  Dipped in a sauce of ponzu, grated garlic and ginger with some scallion, that was one of the best raw fish ever and we ate the whole filets.  A white meat mackerel.  There were flurries of the horse macs on Saturday but they were gone on Sunday.

I'll head back down to Malibu after the Fall Classic October 27th.  http://www.kayakfishing.com/events.html
The second tournament we did at Sycamore was won with yellowtail on November 3rd. Without party boats fishing anymore, many bites get missed and I've always wanted to find that one again.

Sunday produced a nice red and a brown rockfish before the wind blew, the fog socked and a south swell rolled in for an exciting (but clean) landing.
