I fished early Saturday morning from the dive beach.  I totally missed the date on Chefstefanos post and found myself alone at the ramp.  The water was calm and I was on my way by 5:40.  I went for some bait to the west of the beach outside the kelp but it dissipated by the time I got there.  The  bottom was sandy so I dragged some squid.  I pulled up a small octopus one my sinker but no fish.  If only it were July, it might have made good lingcod bait.  About 6:30 I saw a large bait ball outside the harbor mouth and headed for it.  I threw my sabiki a few times but again the bait dissipated.  A thick fog rolled in and I dripped more squid in about 70 ft 1/2 to 1/4 mile outside  harbor mouth.  When the fog cleared there were about 7 PBs around but still no fish.  I paddled upwind back toward the beach and fished the sand outside the breakwater in about about 70 ft and on down.  When I got back to the beach about  9:30 It was packed with divers.  Since I was early I had the prime parking spot and it was cool t o slowly pack up as they drooled over my space.  I only wish Mr. But had decided to show up too.
