I wear magic mojo that seemed to work. Otherwise I plan to flick em on the head with my paddle.

seriously, I put my trust in awareness, brothers on the water, thick plastic, and secondary flotation... in that order.

Hi Yakers:

I belive a Bang stick might help in case of a attack. Some Albion
Uni Divers carry a Glock.

Bang sticks are illegal in CA from what I recall, check to make sure. But it would be awesome, if your paddle broke down, and each end had a 12ga slug! Probably not a good thing for some of us to have on the water, and highly probable reason why they are illegal! But think of the love you could give a halibut at Shelter Cove with the Carlisle 870 Express! Just put a paddle on the end of the barrels of two shotguns duct taped together! Gotta be lighter than their day tripper paddle!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

I heard there was some type of liquid you can dump in the water if you see a shark that deters them. Anyone here of this?
