Has anyone used the ram tube pivot rod holder yet? I'm going to be putting some on my revo but would love to know what everyone thinks of 'em. The range of motion is great they are pretty well built

They are OK for freshwater trolling, but not for saltwater use.  The heavier Saltwater gear is too much for the rubber balls to keep in place.  They tend to slip and move, especially when you get a hit.  There's a good chance of losing your rod if you don't have it leashed.  I now use the Scotty Orcas.  It holds your rods in place without a leash and shouldn't release if you flip over.  It takes two hands, one on each side to lift and unlock the rod or one hand if you grab the reel and lift.

I had these on my revo. I ended up switching to the Scotty. The ball just cant hold the weight. Every time I get a strike the Ram would slip.

Had them on my Raptor, didn't really like the fact that only the butt of the rod is seated in the holder when it was on an angle.

I also when full Scotty on all my boats now; alot more flexibility with there mounting accessories....

I agree, go with Scotty flush mounts.  You can always put the RAM balls into the Scotty holder for freshwater use.  I have the flush mounts and Scotty rocket holders on my Adventure.  They have been great.  My fish finder is on a ram mount inserted in the mast tube.  Even with that little bit of weight it slips sometimes, I always have to leashed just in case.  If you go scotty you can use the scotty crab davit too!  Great for pulling full pots.

Im rethinking this, not because of the holders, but the placement. I installed a set of side kick amas today and kinda liked 'em. Originally I thought of them as training wheels for your kayak but with a sail they look awsome. The cross bar would go right where I was going to put the holders.
I have never had a problem with ram mounts. Does any one have first hand experience with them slipping? I usually ruff up the ball a bit and have only had then slip 1/4 " or so on a hard take down. I usually fish mh rods and the rod takes most of the flex, then the drag kicks in.  90% of time ram mounts would be fine for what I'm doing. For the other 10% of time (offshore or inshore) I hold the rod while fishing.
