Best spots for Fishing in Alameda County w/out Alameda County license?

Why is the Alameda County fishing license so expensive?  I assume that's $255 per year in addition to the $45 state license?  Are there good ponds or other areas to fish around Dublin/Pleasanton/Livermore/Danville/San Ramon, etc. where I would only need the state license to fish?  Mostly looking for bass and crappie.

RESIDENTS OF ALAMEDA/CONTRA COSTA COUNTIES (2010)   
Regular Fishing Permit: $255 per person

NON-RESIDENTS OF ALAMEDA/CONTRA COSTA COUNTIES (2010)
Fishing Permit (all categories): $350 per permit

You can also pay $5 per day for the permit.  Add that to parking and you are at $11 per day to fish at your local body of water.

Fishing Access Permit

A California Fishing license is required for anglers, (16+ years of age), to fish all eligible  inland waters, (lakes, ponds and reservoirs) of the East Bay Regional Park District.

An EBRPD Fishing Access Permit, (daily or annual) is required for anglers 16+ years of age at the following lakes/reservoirs: Del Valle, Contra Loma, Lake Chabot, (Alameda Co.);

Shadow Cliffs, Temescal, Don Castro, and at Horseshoe and Rainbow lakes in Quarry Lakes.  A Fishing Access Permit is not required to fish the following lakes/reservoirs: Cull Canyon; Jordan Pond in Garin; Lake Anza in Tilden; Shinn Pond on Alameda Creek Trail; or at several District unnamed ponds.

Daily Fishing Permit

A daily fishing access permit, ($5/day), can be purchased at most of the park entry kiosks or from dispensers found at many of the fishing lakes.


So they basically charge $5.00 at the gate for fishing Normal stuff... costs lots more other places... They also charge to launch Yaks $5.00 for car + $3.00 car top. they also do inspections.... sounds like a lot of hassle and $$$ Better be great fishing!!!!

Yea, unfortunately, the East Bay park lakes charge you $5 to fish.  $255 is a bit high for annual permit in my opinion, unless you hit up these lakes really really often.

Whoa.....Alameda is nuts.  Go to the delta.  No inspections, no crazy fees and the bass fishing is world class.

What sucks is, some of the lakes in the East Bay is that some are run by East Bay M.U.D., and others are ran by East Bay Regional Parks District. The passes and fees aren't universal. I fish Lafayette and Shadow Cliffs and a couple others from time to time because they are so close (within 20min) But if you don't mind driving a little further, for sure hit the delta.

Delta it... Or hit the bay waters.

That's a lot of money to go fish planter lakes.

But there are some HOG bass and Catfish that eat and grow huge off those little DFG planters. At least that's what I keep telling myself

Here in Sacramento we pay for a parks pass to launch on the Sac and AR and for day use at the parks.
It's on 80 something bucks but it's still another added price to te fishing out here. You can get around paying it by just launching off the bank and parking on the street somewhere

But the fishing action is so worth it!   

I live 5mins from Quarry Lakes but only fish there 1-2 times a year.  Id rather go anywhere else.

Fees are high I agree.  But there's also a literal shitton of people who wanna fish those lakes and it does cost money to continually plant with butt ugly inbreed trouts.  The regular CA fishing license is all you need.  Who cares about those few lakes in Alameda county anyway?  I thought they were simply for testing gear before you went out to fish on serious water.
