So there has been interest from a few people for this saturday.  I know I will be out there around 8 am at the latest.  Couple things to consider.  Low tide is a -1.6 at 7 in the morning.  This means the boat launch wont be doable, maybe you could go left of the boat launch but it will be mud for sure.

Also, winds from the west at 5-15 k until the afternoon where it will increase to 15 to 25.  This is standard for the bay.  Another thing is live bait.  It will be pretty hard to come by at low tide in the morning.  I'm sure I will have to aquire mine the night before.  Smelt has been working but chovies and shiners work here just as well.  Back to low tide launch.  There is a big hole in the chain link fence to the right of the boat ramp and a nice big sandy beach.  This puts you in the naval base but all the signs are gone saying to stay out and I havn't been hassled once in the last 2 summers I've been yakking the wall.  Just be sure to stay far away from the warships on the east side of the inlet.

For those who dont know.  There is another smaller rock wall out past the one that starts by the launch.  This is a brown pelican and harbor seal sanctuary.  Signs say to stay back 300 feet.  That is where there is some good fishing though is drifting parallel along it.  I plan to most likely launch at the beach and then paddle out past both walls and make a long drift back.  It will be incoming tide until about 130 pm that day.  If you get swept past the landing you can always head into crab cove and paddle through the channel back to the rock wall.  If you look at google earth you will see what I'm talking about.

Be warned!!!  I've hooked into some monster bat rays at this spot and it can be crazy especially if the wind has picked up a little. :smt005  I dont how other people like to fish this spot but I have my own spots I've discovered and sometimes it produces and other times there is nada!  Hope to see some people out there.  Pray that the wind doesn't get crazy out there with the big incoming in the morning.  JTF..

Hey Fishunter(it's adam, right?),  I always bring(always!!!) 2 of each of these cannonballs.  2,4,6, and 8.  That way if I hook up with one of these and then for some bogus reason(which has happened with hali's to me) I have another of the same.  You'll want the different size cannonballs that way you can see what weight is necessary to drag bottom.

And yes, I bring a couple torpedo's also.  3,4 and 6 oz in torpedos.  As far as line, I'm not an expert or very lucky with braid.  I usually go with pucci's cxx 17 or 20lb test and then I like to use 25 lb fluorocarbon for my hook leader and 10 lb test for my sinker off of a 3 way swivel.  I also bring an assortment of hooks in the sizes 2,1,1/0 & 2/0.  size 2 and 1 treble hooks are deadly also.  Hope this all helps.  I've revised my plans to try to be there on the water by 700 now.  I'm gonna put aside my friday night girl fishing for an early start out there. :smt003  JTF..

yeah, lots of wind doesn't look good for out there.  the channel and harbor are still doable but I dont know if they will run us out of there or not.  honestly, its not looking good for anyone out there tomorrow, if your driving a long distance I would think twice unless you have other matters you want to attend to while in the area.  JTF..
