Got out to the main ramp around 10am as my buddy Steve & I were primarily going to try out sailing with the Hobie sail that 02B sold me. While waiting for the wind to come up we both landed a couple bass on plastics. To get a bite I was dead sticking for up to a minute in pretty deep water like around 30ft. Ahhhhh summertime.  :smt005  Probably would be a lot better fishing to go back right before dark but I'm glad we didn't try that cause sailing in the dark is probably not a good idea for newbie sailors.  :smt003

Anyway the wind finally came up and all I can say is DAMN YOU 02B! You are going to end up costing me a whole lot of $$$$! Now I gotta think seriously about what to do. While Steve was sailing on my Revo I was on his Adventure realizing what a frickin pig my Revo is in comparison. Steve's Adventure was so much easier to pedal fast than my Revo it wasn't even funny. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my Mirage drive, the Revo itself, or maybe the Adventure is just that much better? Steve enjoyed sailing so much he's looking at the least buying his own small sail and a daggerboard......or he could just get the AI kit.  :smt004 While I'm agonizing over getting some of the small Hobie amas or just waiting until I can afford to do more. Arghhhhh!!!

I can see why the AI sail is highly preferred as the small sail provides very little motion when the wind is minimal. Once the wind started blowing going too fast, with no amas, became the issue. Figuring out tacking against the wind was pretty easy especially since there were a couple sailboats OTW to watch & learn from. Man I really like how my Revo fits in the back of my pickup and in my garage but now that I've pedaled the Adventure.......... :smt009   Friends do not let friends borrow your Adventure, Hobie sail, and especially AI!!!   :smt044

Hahahahaha.......hahahahaha.... I said sailing the Revo can be done. I did not say it was easy and  I did say it was fun and death defying. You'll get the hang of it if you haven't already....leash EVERY THING ! Hahahaha

Serously though......thanks to 02B for 'opening my eyes'!   :thumleft:

Allen, luckily the wind wasn't blowing anywhere near like that day you were sailing at CL......with no roller furling to slow yourself down.   :smt044

John, can I quote you on that?  :smt003

Vince, gotta go back to work and make some $$$$ first!

I'm hoping Hobie is going to make a similar sailing kit as the one on the AI.  Thanks for the post Jim, it looks like lots of fun.

Looks like a load of fun bro. Allen wanted me to try out the AI in Oakland but after seeing all the boats around, I'd rather not for liability reasons. :smt002 I will take him up on it though next time when we are on a lake instead.
