Going to buy a radio tomorrow. What exactly should I be looking for? I had one years ago but forgot.
Also I'm located in Sacramento, any stores anyone recommends?

I just bought STANDARD HORIZON HX290 Floating Handheld VHF Radio from West Marine. it does not available on website, but my local SSF store has it. it cost 129+tax - 20 rebate

I bought the same radio.  Waterproof and floats can't beat that.  It has worked great for me.
