I need to post this because it is just too hard to believe.  I'll try not to be too maudlin.  I returned from three days of fishing/camping on the Stanislaus with my buddy Dilbeck and some friends.  Had left home leaving an ailing, aging pointer ( my shadow for 14 years).  Had to make the call to put her down the day I got back-rough day.  That evening my neighbor calls me on the phone and asks if my dog is out of the yard.  I tell her that I had her put down just this morning.  She says sorry to hear about that, but there is a small dog hanging around your pick up truck.  The wife and I go out and we spend an hour coaxing this terrified little terrier mix out from under my truck.  Anyway I have taken the dog in and posted fliers in the neighborhood, on craigslist and on petfinder.  No calls, and I am not emotionally ready to have another dog yet even though he is a cutie.  If there are any NCKA members out there interested in this pooch I'm sure he would sit a kayak well.  Housebroken and young.  Flier/picture attached.----Jeff

Sometimes when one door closes another door opens.
Being a life long dog lover I understand your lost. Being a current dog owner of three Labs I understand my personal gain from just having them and the blessings they have given us.

Sorry to hear about your recent loss.

Just a thought as I understand you're not ready for another dog yet, but maybe this dog found his way to your truck for a reason?  I know that sounds loopy, but I believe that sometimes, certain things happen for a reason and maybe this dog found you guys for a reason.

In any case, I really do hope that you find the owners.  Good luck to you.

Yeah I know it seems pre-destined, but here is the even weirder part.  The German Short Haired pointer I had put down last week found me right after I had my English pointer of seven years put down.  Many who know me said my Dad, who had recently passed away sent the second pointer to me.  Too weird.  Anyway the terrier is being evaluated for adoption at the Sacramento SPCA.  If he is unadoptable ( I doubt It) we will take him back.  If he is adoptable I will give it 2-3 weeks and if he is still not adopted I will take him.  I have never liked small dogs but this is just too strange.
