I rig so I don't have to open my hatch on the water unless an emergency

Nicely done Scott.  Hope you don't have to test the new rigging's crash tolerance any time soon.

I'm a complete minimalist and also prefer not to pop my hatch unless I have to.  Rare is the occasion when I scoot up to the bow hatch on my adventure to stow my rod when OTW, especially in a big swell.

Its great to see the why and how of the rigging on this yak. Since I am the new owner, I wondered what the different hooks ,etc were all about. Time to fiddle around with my setup. Thanks for posting this Scott!

Nice job. Myself and a bunch of buddies are headed up to Sinkyone for our annual crash and burn ling tourney this weekend. It's a beach launch and land, no sheltered water to speak of. We have been doing this tourney for many years and we have a tap the keg ceremony the night before to appease the surf gods. Each year seems that someone(s) yard sales hard and stuff ends up in the surf everywhere. It only took me one good crash on that short break beach, I quickly learn how to rig my yak bombproof and wear a class V pfd.
