Anybody know where I could buy/catch live bait near/in Tomales Bay?

Petaluma sport & dive is the closest shop with live bait.  Just make your own bait while you're out there. Work along the grass line and the edge of the channel. When are you going?

I don't think I've ever seen live saltwater bait at PS&D.

You can almost always jig up some smelt in Tomales, but the problem is usually finding one small enough to use for bait. Sometimes you can jig up shiners in the grass near Hogg Island, but I've had times where I wasted most of the day just trying to catch bait....so whatever you do it is probably a good idea to bring some tray bait along.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Thats the Gospel right there! I haven't seen any shinners out there yet but there's plenty of good size smelt right now. Definitley bring tray bait along tho

@ Rockroach, looks like Hog Island is where it's heatin' up.
@ Rockhopper, yeah, thanks, I'll bring the sabiki and the tray bait as well as plastics. Anybody had any luck in Tomales with the plastics? What color? Where?
