I'd like to fish the 2 mile stretch above Sunrise. I don't have an anchor, so I'll be drifting to a few places and beaching my kayak wherever I can when I find fishy water.
Checked out the area on Google Maps and found the following locations that look like I can launch from.

38.634011,-121.23383
38.635914,-121.249945
38.636298,-121.263839 (Red bridge)
38.632173,-121.270711 (Foot bridge)

Any advice about these launch locations will be very much appreciated. I'm leaning towards launching from the first location, drift down, fish the two mile stretch until I find fish, and paddle back up at the end of the day (perhaps I should do the reverse?) Company is welcomed. I'll be driving up from Union City, so there's carpool possibility. I'll be on Ch 69. Should arrive before 8am.

thx,
ernest

I'd park near the footbridge, then walk the kayak up the bike trail to the upper sunrise rec area. It's a bit of a walk (3/4 to a mile) but if for some reason you cant paddle back upstream, at least you'll pull out near your car...also parking in the upper section can be pretty sketchy...good luck

are you thinking about fishing it right before dark?
I think I can make it out. but will firm it up tomorrow.  :smt001
I would prefer to launch up at sailor bar and the carpool sounds like a plan.

If you want to borrow an anchor for the evening, I have an extra pyramid you can use, you'll just have to share some shad  ;)  my wife loves them!
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

I have intel that it may not be necessary to bring the kayak when fishing above Sunrise. I'll firm up tomorrow whether I'll be kayak fishing or from shore.

Rockfish, I'll be there in the morning. I don't know how long I'll be there. Give me a buzz on Ch 69.

Thanks for the suggestion striper_slayer. I may do just that if I do use my kayak. Walking the kayak 3/4 mi on a flat road ain't so bad.

I'll be launching from Upper Sunrise in the morning and move upstream. Will bring my blue hobie. Come by and share a beer with me if you're in the area. Ch 69.

How long you gonna be at there?
Thinking about going FW after work, so might stop by if you're still there.

I don't have a set plan. I'll probably fish til 6, but if NCKA starts showing up, I can stick around.

I'll be out there, probably launch around 3pm from upper sunrise and paddle up to where the hotspot was last week, although I haven't hit it since the flow increase so may have to find a new spot.

Jim or anyone that may need it, I have enough room to carpool 1 or 2 guys and yaks back to sailor bar.

sorry, I ended up getting off work late, went to FW, and stayed for the seminar...  Alan talked about shad fishing in Sac & American.  It was pretty informative.
It was very good to see Kat there, and she gave me a discount!  Thanks, Kat!

Hope you guys got some fish!  I will try them soon.
