While out rock/ halibut fishing I hooked into this beast a Pacific Angel Shark. Was getting ready to head in for the day and was trolling a Halibut set up with a dead herring. He slammed it! Good fight and a lot of power! Once I got him close to the yak to release him he chomped down on my yak handle! Could hear the power in his jaws! Got some good teeth marks on my yak handle! Made it an easy position to remove the hooks! Great release and was a sight to watch em swim back down!

So my wife caught this Thresher Shark last year. I got the privilege of landing it as she was in a smaller Yak and was a little nervous as to be expected! Beautiful Shark!

Thresher Tomales Bay. About 53" fork length - maybe 9' according to charts.

I could be wrong but don’t you run a shark shield?

Nope. If they start making them again I might get one. I worry about the dog being the X-factor/shark bait, but both close encounters Iv've had involved freshly caught bleeding fish.
