Looking into fishing sf/sp bay for some halibut and stripers which I normally do off the banks but now in my kayak. I here of boat guys talking about some good halibuts but would like to know from the kayakers point of view. Knowing the weather in the bay, can anyone help with a good place to drift for the BUTS?

Thanks.

Welcome aboard fishstrong151.  You can try ARW (Alameda Rock Walls), Berkley flat, or Paradise State Park.  Search for these 3 key works and you'll find lots of info and fishing reports.

Paradise holds a special place in my heart for 'buts, the drift there can be productive and the scenery is awesome.
I like to have fun.......

Halibut in the bay??? really??? I have yet to see one caught; only seen them on land.....from 3 LUCKY people :smt044

there's a bunch of batrays! I know from experience.... :smt010

Stripers for the most part have moved outside the gate and won't be back until October-ish.... when they pass through on the way to the delta.  You may catch a resident striper, but schools is out.....

Lastly, welcome to the club! I look forward to reading your future reports!

Tough fishing in the bay as of lately or this year period. I've spent a lot of time at the rockwall, and fishing berkeley. Right now, going out to those spots and finding fish is like mining for gold. I haven't tried Paradise yet though. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes. Best of luck and welcome!

There are some fish showing in the flats north of paradise clay, watch the ferry channel!
Red rock as well- but no way would I recommend going over there as a newbie-it is a dicey place to get to....safest is from Marin, but that is also the longest.

Despite what folks say, there are stripers around-give it another week or so and there will be loads of schoolies-you'll have to wade through a million shakers to get to a keeper...

Hopefully I get my kayak this weekend. Was suppose to come in last weekend but had some shipping issues. Maybe if any one is interested with a newbie tag along, shoot me a message. Can't wait for my boat to come in.
