Alright I'm getting out of dodge, 103 is too hot for my blood. I'm thinking of reserving a spot at Ocean Cove campground or headed back up to upper blue lake, Alpine. I know what to expect at Upper or Lower Blue lakes but..... I REALLY want to get on the salt! I've never camped at Ocean Cove cmpgnd so don't know what to expect. I will have my wife and 2yr old son and 3 labs. Thinking of staying Sat night thru Monday am.

Any advise on camping Ocean Cove campground?

Thanks! Mike.

Ya, don't do it.

I don't know if you've been following both threads but there are pretty much no facilities at Timber Cove. You're better off camping at Ocean Cove or Stillwater Cove, with Ocean Cove being the closest to Timber Cove.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Thanks Rock,

Ya I just realized I confused the two (OC and TC) and adjusted my post. I have camped at Timber cove before on that little beach. Plenty of fire wood but we had a group of raccoons attack our coolers in the middle of the night. Good fishing though. Mike

I've been fishing out of stillwater for 40 years so it's kind of tradition. But those stairs are a biache with one person. I bent my wheels there. Great launch though.

Man, this new forecast is literally answering my prayers. Hopefully it holds. I'm leaning toward TC on Sat.

Time to get some sonoma rockfish! :smt003

On a kayak? I must have seen you there. Like around 1974.

No, in a 15' aluminum Gregor. I'll tell ya, I feel a lot safer in a kayak!

My parents went to high school with Linda Rudy who's family owned the ranch/campground across the road as well as the cove itself.

My dad used to go there as a child when that was a school for boys.(70 yrs. ago?) They used to dive off of the rocks for abs in their underwear. Jump in, jump out! :smt005

Does anyone plan on targeting salmon?  If so, which location would be better, F.R. or  T.C.  I'm up for either.

It sounds like people will definately be at Timber Cove Sunday 6/17,  but does anybody plan on fishing Fort Ross?  I think I'm leaning more towards Timber at this point.  Hope to see ya out there!  Ch. 69
