So, I have a Biller 36 Special with upgraded shaft and 3 bands that seems to be just fine for anything north coast; halibut, lings, rockies, etc.  But I want to have something in the arsenal for longer shots on fish like Yellowfin Tuna and White Seabass.  The Mako ETR looks pretty cool as well as the Omer Cayman ETR.  Any suggestions???  I'd like to keep it under $500.  Thanks in advance!

Don't have any advice, but spear guns to divers, must be the same as guns to hunters. No matter how many you have we will find a reason to get a new one!  :smt003

If u gonna be shooting fish like tuna and seabass I would think u want some thing with rang. I never hunt open water before so I don't no much but how close u think u gonna get to these fish..I watch alot of spearfishing on YouTube n they all have big gun for big fish.. Maybe go on spearboard.com n post something there.
Anyway GL shopping, I'm sure ull get something cool.. I want to see some picture

I personally do not see much benefit on ETR Euro/rail guns unless you overpower them.
For seabass the preference seems to be midhandle guns 55” - 65”. You will be hunting mostly in the kelp therefore the maneuverability on the midhandle is at advantage. Some switched to the dark side and shoot euro/rail guns 110-130cm
For yellowfin you will be hunting blue water 4-6 band woodguns 60- 72” long, or 130-150 cm euroguns, single 20mm or double 16mm bands. Wooden Tuna guns are usually outside your $500 range.
If you are hunting California waters yellowfin is not a likely target unless your are paddy-hopping in which case you’ll never know what’s under.
You never have too many spearguns!
A single gun for both would be a tough choice, compromising between range and  maneuverability  so as a single gun, choices IMHO would be 62” midhandle or 130 cm railgun.
PM me if you have any questions. I have a few extra guns, euro and wood, I may consider parting with.

Thanks Dan!  That was really informative and helpful.  I think I'm gonna borrow a few guns this year and see what I like, then decide for next year.  Though I may be interested in your guns if you have something nice ;)
