Our last Trout plant of 1200 lbs. was performed on Monday  May  11,2012.The Trout bite has been excellent and there have been a lot of good looking Trout being caught this week. The water temperature is about  64 degrees. People  trolling are still having the most  luck using Rapalas like the broken back Fire Tiger and Shad lures aswell as Kastmasters. Berkley Power bait colors such as Rainbow,Chartreuse, Garlic  and Corn Yellow aswell as Spring Green remain the top choice of bait aswell as the Berkley Mice Tails while also using the Power bait Trout Dip in Garlic or Roe scents.PowerEggs and  Night Crawlers have also been working well.

I mostly lazily troll around SPD.  However, the last time I was there I took along some bass gear just for the hell of it, figuring the water was warming up and there are known pigs lurking about feasting on farm fresh trouts.  Not being terribly familiar with where the bass are generally found I figured I'd to the south end of the lake, past the buoys in the "no-gas motor" area, which is shallow and full of cover.  I spotted several bigguns prowling the shaded shallows and picked up a couple little ones, 1.5-2# in nasty weedy junk.  It was my first time down that way and from the looks of it the spawn, if there is one there to speak of, should/would be occuring around this time as the water temp measured between 63-66 where I was at.....this was last Wednesday btw.

Other than that, I boated 4 decent trouts with the usual firetiger j-7 and some procure trout gunk.

Cheers!
