Mendo 5-12

Met Mark Shimizu and his sonand nephew at the lake early this AM.  We decided to skip the way too late bait shop and hoped to make bait.  There was loads of shad at the south ramp, and we made 20-30 HUGE shad in just a few minutes.  We were off to a good start.  We hit the water at 0630.

We hit the buoy line as a opening stratedgy.  Within 10 minutes Mark's nephew was on...and then off...DOH!  I spied a few busts off of Crappie Cove so we worked our way over there.  The topwater laid down, but after a little pounding Mark's son was on.  He brought it in nice and slow and was rewarded with a dandy of a first striper...



We continued to work the area and after about 20 minutes it was my turn.  Just as my rod loaded up an older couple that frequents the lake went by the other direction with four rods out.  My fish managed to find three of them!  After a lot of careful untangling I was able to free all of the baits off of my line.  Then My fish found Marks line...sheesh!!!  One more untangle and I finally got this fish to the boat.  It was STUFFED with shad. Fatboy was released...



I had to leave for work but a while after I left it was Marks turn.  He nailed another fish like his son's.  4/4 hookups...3/4 to the boat.  A great Friday!
