Figured most of the local lakes would be filled with boats during the hot weekend so I figured I'd do some bank fishing at the local ponds.  Fished from about 8-12 for 1 dink on a skinny bear jig.  Took a lunch break and hopped over to another pond....and thats where the magic happened.  First cast out, no bite but I noticed like 4 bass creeping out of the weeds looking at my worm as I worked it back in.  Tried dead stick with light twitches but couldn't get them to bite...they'd just look and go back into the weeds.

Thats when I figured the presentation might be right, but the wrong color.  I initially had a morning dawn color worm and kept switching it around til I found the "hot" color of the day, which ended up being a PB&J color.  Once that color was on, first cast, BOOM, a 3lber slams it.  2nd cast, a 4lber hits it like a freight train and starts to peel out drag and as I'm fighting it in, I see about 8 or so other good sized bass come to check out the fight.  Next 2 casts resulted in a couple 2lbers, but the last fish came unbuttoned as I was trying to lip it.

Once that fish got free, the bite went dead just like that.  Anyone else notice that once you lose a fish, the bite dies off?
If you ain't first, you're last.
