I'll probably be heading out for halibut if I can find some other people who wanna head out. Any takers?

My calender shows Saturday to be May 13.  I live in Seaside and am generally interested in hooking up with others in the area.  I prefer to go out early and hope to be in by the time the sea breeze kicks in.  I am fairly novice but have been doing a fair amount of rock fishing over the last two years.  I would love to learn some spots and pointers for halibut.

Hi Etienne,
You're correct on the date. I went to fish the pier today (got 1 smelt in about 15 mins and saw a ton caught if you guys want bait) and I looked at the water at 11AM and it was already white capping. Really windy. I'll recheck the conditions friday night and make a call but I don't think we could get out there for long enough to make it worth it with the current conditions unfortunately. The reports show high winds in the afternoon for sat but as we found out the last few days those winds are starting early.

I will let you make the call.  With mother's day this weekend and all, I might be better off without fishing but if it can be fit in early and you plan to go from Monterey it would be hard to say no!

The report has detiorated instead of improving so I guess I'll wait. This weather is almost worse than that endless rain we had. I might be able to head out Tuesday.

Jim and I are planning on going out from MBK at 0600-0630 on Saturday, hoping to get out for a little while before the winds pick up.

Ed,

Early sounds good to me.  Would you mind if I tag along to learn some Halibut pointers?  Most of my experience is with rock fish.
