GS Side Draw: South Fork Eel is a bit cold and high but REALLY NICE right now!

Highs in the 80's later this week and through the weekend along 101 in Southern Humboldt - hit up the South Fork of the Eel around Benbow for a refreshing taste of one of Humboldt's finest cool water experiences.  The fam and I were at Leatherwood Bar yesterday - about 10 miles north of the Shelter Cove turnoff.  It was only 70's, but we had a blast.  There's also a place along 101 on the way up between Leggett and Benbow - "Dora Creek" - it's an oldgrowth turnout/swimming hole that used to have a bathroom.  It actually used to have a dance hall with two entrances right through big redwoods back in the day!  Look for those historic trees and check out the swimming hole.

You are living the dream brother! We all have to work, or at least had to, but to do in an area that is awesome as the CA north coast is something most of us will only dream of.

Dora Creek has a nice waterfall on it too. Nice spot.

Used to go do a head dip in that waterfall on my way back to Humboldt during college in the late 80's/early 90's.   

Beautiful view of the Eel Eric!  I really wanna go chill out there for the weekend some time!
