Sadly, a nice solid skunk for me today.

I was late to the harbor... got on the boat around noon after dealing with car repairs and vet appointment.

The harbor was like glass and I paddled out towards the mile marker for about 30 minutes.  Then Poseidon flipped the switch on the wind machine.  From 12 to 1 the wind increased with regularity.   At 1:30 I realized the wind and current were pushing me at near my top paddling speed.  Whitecaps everywhere and a bunch breaking over the boat.  I pulled the scupper plugs and headed for shore.  Off the water around 2:00.

Fishless and fancy free.  Next trip will be in time to miss the windgames.

Well, thanks for checking it out.  I was wondering what it would be like on the water on such a nice day on shore in Santa Cruz.  I'm going to have to get my stuff together and tie it on my yak like they do with lifeboats, so that when a real lull in the wind happens I can just slide it on the truck, slide it off and get some fish!

Props for tryin' though. I'm in agreement with FuzzyTom, this time of year it always seems to be the days that I'm able to get out the wind and sea conditions don't want to cooperate. The last couple of trips to check conditions the ocean looked like no fun at all. BUT, we're just in transition with the weather, and probably less than a month will see us all out there doing what we do.
