A Wall Street Journal article talking about people renting their homes out to view the America's Cup race for $3,500 to $60,000 a month. I wonder if anyone would be interested in renting my kayak???

Others are plotting a cheaper course to view the regatta. Sean Randolph, president of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, says he plans to watch the Cup from a kayak in a buffer zone that will be created on San Francisco Bay for nonmotorized boats. While Mr. Randolph's home in Marin County, north of San Francisco, has a view of the Bay, it doesn't overlook the Cup's racecourse, and he doesn't want to shell out thousands of dollars to rent a property.

"In a kayak, you're sort of participating because you're on the water and you're a little closer" to the action than on land, he says.

I plan on watching it from a fish eye view, in wetsuit and goggles :brave:

actually a great view point is Pier 14 across the street from Boulevard restaurant.  There's a small craft hand launch (usually locked) and the fishing pier extends well out to provide a great vantage

Id be game to raft up for the cup if there's gonna be a paddle craft zone.  Afterwards we can play speed bumps with the swimmers.....any takers? ;D

Cool, I want to get out there, I guess the first stage of races is in August, then more in October.
Hope to get on the sail equipped Revo and play along, at a safe distance. :smt003
Raft up would be cool, I don't know how well the Hobie fins would fare trying to bunny hop a swimmer. :smt002

Ah to see the cup back in the states where it belongs!  I grew up in Rhode Island and watched the races on TV and from shore with my grand father.  The boats toady are so damn funny looking, nothing like the classics.  It looks like an over sized Catamaran race now.

I have a berth at the very end of Pier 39. You can reach out and touch Alcatraz from it. We can hook up and base camp there.
