Hi all,

Since the abalone season opened, I have been looking and searching for people whom are willing to take me out. I am new to abalone diving, had 2 dives in end of last season, been spending time in pool. I am a woman diver lives in Santa Rosa, have my own gear, iron, gauge, float line, surf board etc. I was pretty shaky the last 2 dives so I really want to improve my skills this season. I've been taught with some good breathing and diving techniques last year. Can you take me diving? Or can you refer me to people who doesn't mind to mentor? Thanks!

Mason (Elaine)

Don't go by yourself, especially if your new.

I live in the East Bay and would be happy to show ya how it's done. We can get legal Abs in 5 feet of water. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is willing to help you out. Keep your eye on the Hook-Ups section, and when someone posts an Ab trip, just ask if they'd look after a new diver. I dont have any trips planned right now, but I'm sure I'll be going sometime soon (within the next few weeks) if weather permits. I'll post in the hook up section and hopefully you will be available that day.
I'll say again, don't go by yourself. Guys on here are the helpful type so I'm sure you will find someone soon.

Well said Jeff.

I saw you also posted on NCUWH...good guys and great dive mentors over there for sure as well.

Be patient and play it safe and I am sure you will get in on a hook up with some good folks soon.

Best of luck and hope to see you in the water one day soon.

another +1 for go with someone even you don't need mentor.
You're in Santa Rosa, so it's very a good spot to carpool or caravan with someone.
