My Humminbird 570DI makes an aweful clicking noise when I am OTW and it is driving up the wall.
So much so that last time I got so ticked I turned it off and stuck it in the hatch; fished blind.
I took a small video of it in my shop, and I realize the yak isn't in the water, but it makes the same noise regardless.
The noise will stop for awhile, then start up again for no reason.
Anyone have any ideas?
Does anyone elses do this?
I am going to move the TD forward using the putty method to see if it makes any difference. But until then I am looking for answers.

Tote,
Is there water under it? My humminbird hasn't arrived yet, but my Lowrance transducer does that when I turn it on on dry land, but no sound when it is in contact with water.

rgds,
ernest

Yes, there is water. Notice when I pulled the TD the sound stopped but you could see the puffs of (steam?) coming off the TD.

I can hear the transducer for my Humminbird side scan I have mounted in my Gregor aluminum clicking like crazy even though it is way at the back of the boat and I am in the bow.  It seems to come and go.  the transducer I use for another Humminbird FF on my yak is right next to me and I never hear it clicking.  have you emailed or called Humminbird support to see what they say?

You realize that those clicks are the ultrasonic pulses right?  My eagle cuda 250 "Clicks" like that as well.  I think the hummingbirsds have an "Auto" feature maybe, it's turned off and the power settings may be set at high?Maybe try adding more water to the transducers well?
Does the FF still identify structure under the surface?

I just installed my HB 385ci a few weeks ago and initially had the same question.  However, I haven't been terribly concerned as it is still identifying structure has the correct depth and temperature showing on the display.  I had assumed it was just the sound of it working as I've never used one on a kayak before.  Interestingly, it still hasn't caught a fish but it has found them.

One of the reasons I go is for the peace and quite. The ticking is not acceptable to me. My Eagles never did it.

Mike just a thought is your transducer wire all coiled up ? Try laying it out so it's not in a big coil doubt if that's it but worth a try.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
