Wanted to make some custom riggs for sanddabbing and perching, even though yes you can buy them and they are pretty cheap.  But sometimes you want something a little different and by making your own you can build them any way you like!  I often find that they are too long anyway and end up cutting them shorter for ease of handling on the yak.

So I took a look on the internet for how to make a sabiki rig and found some info about using a cut dropper loop to create sabiki rigs and decided to give it a shot.  If you dont know how to do a dropper loop, take a look here:   You basically make a few large dropper loops and cut one end of them then snell on your hook.  Add a bead or whatever to dress it up if you like, then use a grub or bait on the end.

One thing that I'll spare you the trouble of figuring out is when making the dropper loops you need to pull all three ends at the same time and make sure the wrapps didnt overlap when you pull it taught.  You need something to hook the loop around so you can pull it and both ends of the main line at the same time.  Be sure to moisten before pulling taught.  Took me quite a few tries to get this right, and is pretty frustrating when you've already made 4 of the loops and screw up the last one  :smt044

I used the following:

Stren 12lb Mono
Gamakatsu 6 Baitholders
Seps Beads
Some grubs
Scissors

Going to try and give it a shot tomorrow, will let ya know how it turns out!

Looks good Al. How many hooks are you allowed to use at a time?

As many as you want!  So long as you aren't targeting RF or Salmon  :smt002

Looks nice. How big are those grubs?  They look like a dab magnet, with a tiny piece of squid on the hook, interested to see how they work.

Thanks for the info.
