Banner season for Salmon!

I can't wait for salmon season to open.  See below.  Hope they are right!

Yeah, but where would be a good place to target them? 

Maybe this is the year to bust my Salmon "cherry".  I don't think I can count the out-of-season, accidental one I caught in the Caquinez Straits a couple of years ago on a rattle trap.

"The problem is that projections have been wrong before, including last year. Fisheries experts estimated that there were 730,000 salmon in the ocean in 2011. They predicted 333,000 salmon would return to spawn in the Sacramento River in the fall, but only 114,741 showed up."

I hope they're right this year!

That's what I was thinking. Hopefully it comes true but I seriously think they're blowing smoke.
