I'm thinking of taking a trip with a couple of other guys to SD. Is there any good places to rent kayaks. We really want to get into some hamachi. But, any fish is a good fish.

You can rent a kayak, but if you want to fish LJ, you'll have to cartop your rental yaks from the rental place.  If you hire a guide, they'll have a yak and gear for you.  "The Kid" (Kevin) and "Darkhorse" (Josh) are the well-known guides down there. Go to bigwatersedge.com or facebook to find them.

Thanks for the props guys, I just love kayak fishing and sharing fish porn with like minded addicts every so often :smt003

Jedmo, both those yellows were caught Yo Yo style using a "scramble egg" colored sumo jr Iron with the glow back.
Blue and white was also doing well that day (hell that day just about anything might have worked)
I also released one other yellow about the same size, I had never released a yellow before,  it was cool... not sure I will ever do it again.

As far as renting a kayak, there are a few spots just blocks from the launch, and they deliver it to the sand, not sure about rod holders etc. but you can call them to find out. Maybe Google la jolla kayak rentals etc?

But as John said, if you hire a guide you can get the whole package set up for you.

I hired Josh Pruitt "DARKHORSE" about 4 years ago and it was well worth it, his contact info is here: http://inshorekayak.com/

Kevin Nakada "The Kid"  who also post here, is a bad ass local who consistently puts his clients on big fish, his contact info is here: http://seasamurai.com/index.html

I have no desire to be a guide (nor am I qualified) , but if your in the San Pedro area or heading to San Diego feel free to contact me, if I can, I will gladly fish with any of you or at the least help in any way I can.

Thanks again guys take it easy

P.S.
I bought a Hobie PA a few weeks ago, and may take it on my maiden voyage manana... wish me luck, if I go it will be a halibut hunting day.
