I remember going to Garcia Bend to fish for stripers off the bank, and have heard that a person can engage in some combat fishing for salmon during the season.  Anyone fished the area in a kayak?  If so, is it any good?

I've fished the Sac around the Elkhorn Boat launch area...too much work for what it was worth...spent half the time dodging floating debris and knuckleheaded boaters...You're better off launching out of Discovery and fishing either the mouth of the American or paddling up the American...

I did a salmon drift from Miller Park to Garcia Bend a few years ago. Didn't really hang around and fish the GB area though.

Thanks for the posts.  My fishing buddy went to GB to do some jigging for salmon with a few others on a boat.  He remembers that as soon as someone hooks a fish, there's a swarm of fisherman steering into the area for the next one.  I didn't know if that was just on that particular day or if it was the norm.
