Lawson's landing for halibut and dungeness?

I will be camping at lawson's landing in late may and I would like to do some crabbing and halibut fishing there.  I went there when I was a kid and I remember my friend catching dungeness off the small pier.  How is the halibut fishing and crabbing for dungeness around Lawson's?  I would like to stay fairly close I might have a newbie fishing with me.
