I can't find a number to call.  Anyone know what the hours of operation are at

Cappell cove?  I'd love to try somewhere besides Markley, but I like to start early.

  Thanks

I don't remember there's a restriction on launching hours at Cappell.  There's no gate there as I recalled.

Contact the BUREAU OF RECLAMATION , I believe it is operated by them.
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

I launched my boat there a few years ago and I couldn't remember the hours. However I recalled I was there in the early morning. Probably 6 or 7 AM so I assume no gate. I didn't go there anymore after I heard many complaints due to vandalism.

Vandalism is bad.  I guess I'll try somewhere else.  I'm trying to convince my buddy to take his boat somewhere besides the delta.  I'd rather pay for launch than risk his
van getting messed with.
My car is fairly city proof, so I'll still give cappell a chance with the yak.
 Thanks everyone.

Opie,
I fish out of campell on a regular basis and I have never seen a vandalize car, can and does it happen, yes, but that could be anywhere. I actually heard of more breakins and vandalism by markley. Theres usually always a boater coming in and out of campell so nobody really has a chance to do anything. btw, campell is always left open and they never lock it up. If you still want a safer venue, theres always oak shores which is a free day use area and rangers and people are always around. but oak shores doesnt open till 7am. then theres lupine shores(formely steel canyon resort) that is completly safe and only charges $3.15 to launch car tops! and there always open. that would be off steel canyon rd where hwy 128 and 121 meet.

I haven't had any real problems at Capell Cove. I'm usually the last boat out of there well after dark.

Had some demanding drunk yahoo come up to me one night while I was putting straps on the yak/trailer. Told him I was in a hurry and gave him that get out of my face look. He walked up to a group he was with farther up the parking lot. 5 minutes later they fired off a high powered rifle or black powder shotgun round. Sounded like a cannon as it was echoing across the lake and hills. A little creepy and concerning.... :smt012

They left the area soon after. Another time there a giant monster truck with neon lights on the undercarriage that pulled in late at night. The guy was checking me out but was probably just looking at my boat. He went into the lake on the boat ramp to clean off his rig (I'm guessing).

No vandalism that I've seen yet. Gates stay open all the time.

I pick up litter when I see it at the launch. Capell Cove is too valuable a free launch access to let go.

Now that you mention it MW, when Sara and I stayed at Lupine Shores week before new years, at around 11 at night a few yahoos on ATV's and a 4X4 were driving up and around the levey and taking off down some of the trails.  They were obviously intoxicated :smt011 and didn't seem to get the rangers attention either.
