Off my death bed, truck broke down and in shop for rest of week, but have rental rig sitting in drive way.  Decided to tidy up garage after last dive and thought to myself.....wonder if I can rig rental to haul kayak and surf board????? hmmm....  So I am now loaded and ready to head somewhere south to find a spot to spear some fish and upgrade my stats on DOTY.  I know this last minute but if any central cal crew want to humor an old guy with a pole spear and keep me out of trouble with those rangers give me a shout.

The swell forecast is not looking good for getting in the water bro.  I hope maybe you can find a good protected spot, but I think even SWS might be gnarly for those days.  Hopefully we can dive together one day soon!

Not sure if I should post this a a Hook up reply,  Dive Report, or just in the General Dumb A..... report, should have listened to all of the PMs and calls. Thanks to ; Big Jim for ongoing directions, ShellBack, LinglessPig for advising me " Hey it don't look good, here the cams",  Bloodbath for encouragement  and of course Fishmaster for after the fact things to do......   Any way uneventful drive through the ice and snow,  hit the rest stop south 5/ 580  0100 hrs caught a couple hrs Zzz.
0400 hrs headed south with visions of pole spearn' giant fish and  monkeyfaced eels.  Hit the 17 mi drive (holy crap 9.50 toll hostage rd) and proceeded to miss the turn off 3 times......(even after BigJ sent me directions on phone).  Finally arrived and parked in wrong spot.....Hey cantcha see my plates, I'm from Nevada an nervrd' see'd the ocean before.    Actually nice folks and advised me the ocean is dangerous and use utmost caution....... Almost paddled  out after that "Sage Advice" . But My Old Guy Gut Feeln' said;  Don't Do It...Some one who attended the FMC Ocean Rescue Class you help Tech will probably come out for you ,...not good.  So I went to Mom in Laws for a packaged frozen fish taco dinner mmmmmm.  So had a great trip Drivin" MylifeAway but using a rental Tahoe with jerry riggged kayak/surfracks.
lessons learned; # 1-Listen to your firends...but ignore their advice, because there is always an adventure at hand.
#2- do not put the float tube (that you had fish in last week, and did not rinse) in an enclosed  rental Tahoe.  Thank goodness my truck is back from shop!!! for my next adventure/trip.

I cannot tell you the number of times I bailed on a hookup because of weather forecasts only to be taunted with pics of my buddies fishing in FAC conditions.  Enjoy the ride, roll to plan B and remember not to keep stinking stuff in the car.  :smt003

Dammit! 17 mile drive is free if you show them your Dept I.D.  That's my fault bro, the next beer or coffee is on me. Please hit me up next time you come down, IAFF 1230 here, so I've got weekdays to fish and dive! We've all got our Eel spots and I'd be happy to show you mine, as I'm positive the rest of the guys would too. I'm glad you at least make the attempt. Like E2G said, I've bailed due to swell forecasts only to get that "you should have been there" messages! Alright man, take care, and please give me a heads up next time your nearby.
