Hey Guys,

For those interested, I'm thinking of hosting a surf zone training session at Doran Beach the day before Crabfest. I went out with Vwool this past Monday and I noticed how most people avoided the surf instead of embracing it and playing with it. My hope it to expand peoples comfort level in the surf as well as with their kayak. This is not an official class just a loose invitation to join me and some friends for a beginner friendly surf session. If you would like to join in, all I ask is that you wear proper attire ie: Drysuit, Wetsuit, or Bibs and a dry top. If you have a helmet its not a bad idea to bring it along. Also strip all breakable stuff like rod holders and the like off the boat. When learning to play in the surf you will get dumped. If you would rather not use your own boat, I will have a bunch of demo kayaks available for you people to use.

If you are on the fence about getting a drysuit, take my advice and do it. It makes your comfort level in the kayak go through the roof. I have a few suits left over from the Kokatat and Stohlquist  sale I did a week back. I will still offer them 40% off for NCKA Members. This is not a sales pitch its a safety pitch. Can I get some backup from Drysuit owners? Anyways will plan on doing a mid morning session, and I will update this thread as we get closer to the Crabfest.

Cheers! Dan

Very cool of you Dan!!

I have to admit...I still look at the surf zone as something to get through as quickly as possible so I can get out to go fishing/diving, or get back in "safe" to that cold beer waiting on the beach... :smt002

When I only had the BigYak, I blamed it on having nowhere to store my gear, but even when I have everything tucked inside my T15 I still rush through the surf....

 :smt009

I won't be able to make the crab fest, but one of my goals this year is to keep working on my comfort level and experience in the surf.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Here's your back-up.

I love my drysuit and now laugh at conditions that would have kept me off the water when I was wearing waders. I like mine so much I'm still tempted to pick up another one just because of the great deal you are offering.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Jim,

Let me know if you want to put something together at a later date. If we could get 5 guys together or so I would be happy to put on a surf class. Any excuse to get coastal, I'm there.

Sounds good Dan!

Maybe you can make it down this year for the Pay it Forward Paddle? Date still TBD, but us ahulls have already begun our conversations about how/where/when etc...

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

I plan on it for sure. I was bummed to have to miss last years. My calendar gets so packed out that its hard for me to break away. Please let me know when the dates are set and I will do my best to make it happen.
