I'm going to be on lake Shasta from 5-10 till 5-14 on a houseboat and none of us have fished that lake
so i don't know what fish are there or bait to use so any help would be appreciated.

Boy, where to begin?

Awesome fishery, great timing as May is prime time on Shasta.  Spotted bass pretty much on any shoreline, focus on the willows and rock piles.  The water level is just about full to the brim, so there is a ton of fish holding water.  Rubber worms (morning dawn, spot spanker, salt/pepper), jigs, topwater morning/evening, etc.  The landlocked king bite should be going down at the dam, mooching anchovy tails in around 80' of water.  Trout are still up top, trolling standard hardware should produce.  At night throw out chicken livers from the houseboat, catfishing has been quiet but should be picking up as the water warms.

I think most of  us will be over at GMS6, but there may be a few locals around if you post a hook up.  Tight lines, have fun!
