well looking to take on a new skill after being out of work for sometime now. Is there entry level work out there, hows the pay? Or am i kidding myself about this?

Always interested in welding, but choose another career.

any input would be much appreciated, thanks.

Start off by taking a class many different ones are offered at the various colleges. Looks good on resume, then hit the classifieds look for some kind of aprentiship program that's prolly your best bet in this economy good luck and I'll keep my eye out for you.

i was a stone mason for 13 years. Seems there is no money left in that gig, the prices and standards just kept getting lower and lower. I called most every fab company here asking for work. One guy gave me a chance. The pay started low but I worked my ass off. I have now been with the same company for 5 years. My pay isnt quite what it was when I was a mason but im happy. There is so many diffrent kinds of welding jobs and pay varies alot between them all. I am a misc metals fabricator. Great luck!!!

I have a few friends who are journeymen welder/fabricators that are out of work right now. Work comes & goes FYI
Defiantly take classes at your JC and talk with the instructor. He might be able to get you in the door. Good luck
