Forecast was for rain, high winds, big swell and overall cruddy conditions.

Chris Cnew83, and my buddies Robert and Jim Okumoto and I decided to go down and check it out anyway.   :smt005

There was a decent swell, but we also found blue skies, no wind, glassy seas and 25-30 foot visibility.

 :smt003 :smt004 :smt003

Paddled out to a spot where I have often found large schools of blues, and it did not disappoint!

Had a BLAST just playing in the clear blue water, chasing blues and olives and enjoying being out there.

Chris and I were tag teaming and calling each other over when we found the schools that would sit still for awhile in about 40 feet of water and then get scattered by a seal.   :smt005

Then we moved spots and went in shallower to look for lings and cabs. Jim shot two cabs and one Ling and Chris and I each picked up all the Rockfish that we wanted.

 :smt004

Saw Matt Michie and Blake at the pier slaying the perch...good to see ya fellas!

 :smt006

Jim O. brought down some 5 prong speartips and little egg floats for floatlines for Chris, Andy, Joe and I. He also gave me a BEAUTIFUL 10 3/4 inch ab shell he got back in 1997.  :smt007 :smt007

He stopped counting how many 10 inch or over abs he got after 100...he brought one of his photo albums and the amount of diving and spearfishing he has done is really cool.  :smt004

Had Robert and Jim spend the night and we BBQd ribs, fried cabbies and rockfish, watched football and just had a great time.

Awesome day!

One pic of our carnage on top of the BigYak.

Will work on vid tonight.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Very cool, Jim! Those were some great shots of that sea lion with the lighting and everything.

Did you see any schools of baitfish while you were out there?

Thanks Rick!

I didn't see the baitfish, but Jim O. said he did!

Awesome video. How deep were you diving?

I hit a max of 40 feet, but most dives were between 20 and 30 feet.
