Finished my new mooching / trooching / deep diver rod this week.  Hopefully I'll get to put it to use before long.  Broke down and bought one of those cute little Daiwa Sealine SG17LTA line counter reels.  Such a nice little package with 30# spectra.

Erik,
Nice rod.  One question, how are you going to keep the arctic grips white after it gets bloodied up :smt002

Like the line counter reel too.

I just hope I'm lucky enough to get them bloodied up this year... I think a little red stuff will look good on the white stuff. :smt002

did the daiwa come with a 'power' handle or double paddle?

If double paddle, I think an abu 'power' handle fits.  generally available on ebay for about $10.

might fit your bear paws a little better than the double paddle handle?

Looks very, very nice!
2 questions-
Does the blank really twist like in your picture to where the guides are not all lined up?  Seems like line would then rub against the rod.
What are the advantages of titanium guides and what has been their record so far?

Thanks
John
