Yeowch!!!!!!
I haven't seen the line used through the eye of the hook before. Interesting.
They certainly took an unfortunate situation and turned it into quite an opportunity.
Thanks for posting Craig.

Wow, that was great. He made that look so easy and smooth. There certainly is a time and place for everything, and if the situation called for it, I'd use that method. But if I could, I'd get to a hospital and let them do it to make sure I don't suffer any nerve damage from trying to yank it out myself. But if I was at Shelter Cove or somewhere way out there like that, I'd roll the dice and let 'er rip! Thanks for sharing that buddy, good stuff!

I was fishing with my daughter,  I was unhooking a fish for her and she stepped back just as the hook came out.  It buried itself into my palm close to where the video showed.  Everyone was too freaked out to pull it for me so I had to do it myself.  I was able to push the eye down with the affected hand.  I then took pliers and pushed the hook down to create a channel for the barb to slip out.  I then yanked it out while keeping downward pressure.  Holy smoke it hurt, but came out smooth.

I have been considering a set of mini bolt cutters for the yak.  That way I could actually cut a hook if I needed to (stuck in face, neck, ect.) where you need to go to a Hospital.  Something like this:

Needle nose or dikes just won't cut a hardened hook that well.  The way my buddy bast casts on his bass boat, I should get him a set too.  He has hit me in the head twice (thank goodness for hats), and stuck a crank bait in our other friend's back.  He yanked it 3 times before looking back to see what he was stuck on... :smt009

Good video. Amazing how calm both of them were through the video. They made the best of the situation.

Thanks for sharing Craig.

if I could, I'd get to a hospital and let them do it to make sure I don't suffer any nerve damage from trying to yank it out myself.

My son and I were fishing when he got a kastmaster stuck in his arm with two of the three hooks. Took him to the hospital where the doctor wanted to cut around the area to remove the hook :smt009 After about an hour of discussion with the Doc. I convinced her to just give him a shot for the pain and let me pull it out. Hook came right out and saved him from a major scar.
Moral of the story;
Always good idea to go to the doctor for these thing (may need tetnus shot, etc.), But, Make sure they have done this before.

DON'T rip a hook out! My dad got a hook stuck in his finger on a party boat, and the deck hand came up and ripped it out; took some flesh with it.
I have used the method from the video and it works great!

Another one just take a shot right before you do this a little but simpler then needing the two lines but a pair of good bolt cutters is needed. ive got a pair in my first aid kit.

im sure most have seen this but good side-by-side comparison
