Thinking of a noonish start from Capell Cove launch for afternoon/evening crank baiting/jigging. Work some main lake banks and then come back into the near cove area for sunset crappies (bring flashlight).

Yellow Hobie Adventure.

Company welcome!

Thanks for the luck Ricci,

I was there a few weeks back and caught one nice smally and some little ones along an interesting looking bank. Couldn't fish it for long because I was set up for sailing with friends. I want to put in some extra time there this time.

Crappie are going to be a wild card. I know a general area where they hang out but it's usually not a numbers game. More quality vs quantity
at the Berry. The big crappie seem to only loosely relate to each other and I have not come across them being tightly schooled yet.

Maybe tomorrow.... :smt005

Mistral, I was marking some big schools in the back of Skiers Cove a few weeks ago that had to be crappie.  I wasn't fishing, as I had the family on the boat doing the tubing thing, but I was glued to the FF watching the schools underneath me.

Good luck MistralWind at Berryessa tomorrow! I'm a new member with some history at Berryessa. Biggest crappie I've every caught was right across from Spanish Bay Resort. When I returned off the water at the resort the dock hand asked how I did, I showed him the crappie and he said it was the biggest crappie he had ever seen. I was fishing right across the water from the Resort where there is a cove and on the North or left facing opening wall I was using a spinning rig with a 1/2 oz jig and a minnow. Just drop it close to shore and jig it back and let it drop down to the bottom on each jig & reel. Best of luck!

Welcome aboard lureup!

You didn't get to see my report from Berryessa because it's in the members only section.

No crappies on tuesday but the largemouth were biting very well on shad raps/gulp worms. Caught several bass up to 3 lbs.

I have never fished by Spanish Flat Resort ( that I'm aware of). My biggest crappie at Berry this year was close to
15 inches. Few 14's as well. Nothing too big but nice slabs.

How big was your crappie and where did you catch that muskie in your picture?

Members only? 15" & 14" well I rate that big. Mine was years ago (early 80's) it might have been 15" never took a measurement.

The particular Muskie was from Independence Grove Forest Preserve, Gurnee, IL. 5/5/2005 on a 1.5 oz white jig with white marabou skirt and a plastic 5" white minnow trailer and treble hook (home made). She went back home to spawn another day. That one's 36" my first was 42" and another was 39". How do I get to members only?

lureup - I believe you need to have at least 10 "meaningful" posts before the //members only fishing reports// section shows up under your forum menu/table of contents. Pretty easy to get there.

I've never actually caught a muskie while fishing for them. I've caught like 3 of them back in Minnesota and they were all on a
jumbo leech/floating jig head/slip sinker rig - while walleye fishing at night in shallow water. They were about the size of your picture one.

Just keep posting and you'll see what I mean about the members only reports.
