Reel maintenance

I have been amazed at Alan Tani's tutorials in his website that i finally took the dive and opened up my stuff after many neglected years.   I ordered carbontex drags from Smooth Drag, got some cal's grease, corrosion x, carb cleaner and Alan was kind enough to ship me some Yamaha marine grease.   It took me a couple of days making sure what came out came back in but in the end there was not a piece not inside the reels.   I did take out the bearing shields and discarded them as suggested by Alan.
I'm still waiting for new bearings for the Penn and new bellevile washers for the charter special but they should also be a piece of cake.
