How much would be a good deal to buy a 2003 outback for that's in good condition with now extras.  Just the kayak and marige drive? They asking for 1200 but I don't know if I should ask for less. Any advice?

Thanks
Phong

I believe there are some stability issues with the older outback models, plus the drive area is weaker.  You could pick up a fairly new used one for around that price if you spot the CL ad fast enough.

Hobie dealers usually offer up to 15% discounts on 2011 models to make room for the 2012 models.  That happens at this time frame.
I would check the dealers for any specials so you can get a newer model.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to keep my eyes locked on CL! Also check out the dealers. Thanks again!

Only problem with the older Hobies was the hull failure at the spot in the drivewell on the forward mounting post for the drive.  Chances are it's cracked/split.  My first OB hull was an 04' model.  It's drivewell cracked on me, I go it replaced, then the second hul was an 06' model.  It too cracked.  My current and 3rd hull is an 08' and hobie has fixed the drivewell issue once & for all.  that whole area that was prone to cracking has been filled in solid with plastic now.
I initionally paid about $1700 for my very first hull (The 04')  $1200 for just a hull & drive seems a little high for such an old hull. If it's loaded with gear, well maybe ok then.

Good luck with your search

I think that's a little high. I wouldn't buy the older model any way. I bought 2 2006 Outbacks last year and then upgraded my wifes to a 2011 the new hull and drive were so much nicer I sold my 2006 and bought a 2012. Just FYI I sold my 2006 with turbo fins a better paddle fish finder flush mount Scotty rod holders ram mount rod holder and the custom crate for $1250. I hope this helps.

2003 ???

+1 on what the others have advised.  Diligently look on NCKA.

I got my Sport from HobieDave for less than 5 duckets.  Dave says there's some leakage, but all I get is a spongeful after a day on the water.  I get that on a swelly day on my Adventure.
Anyhow, my point being that brothers on NCKA will give the brethren a break on  price normally b/f it goes onto CL.

Now if I can only get my hands on a Revo for a price I can't resist !!

Stormscrambler's offering a good deal on a Hobie Revo in these classifieds.  May want to look into it.  THey are about a foot longer and 5 inches more narrow than the Outback.

My '05 Outback was $800 and looks like it was never used when I bought it 18 months ago (can't say that now).  No issues around the divewell.
